Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro - Brasil, BahiaSeven Things To Do In Arraial d'Ajuda

There was a time when the only way to reach Arraial d'Ajuda was to take a ferry across the Buranhém river from Porto Seguro. Although accessible by road these days, the ferry ride is still probably the most enjoyable way to get there. Development and influx of tourists has hardly changed this charming coastal village in Bahia.

It retains its calm and relaxing atmosphere and is home to some of the best beaches in the region. Arraial has many exciting attractions and activities in store for you. Here are some of them:

1: Join The Activities At Beach Mucugê

Arraial d'Ajuda Beach
The Praia Mucugê, surrounded by palm trees and with natural pools of warm water is one of the best beaches in the area. It is also the closest beach to the village and the hub for many tourist activities.

The sea here is calm due to a natural barricade provided by offshore coral reefs, which break up the large waves. The conditions here are ideal for swimming or other water sports. The place is full of barracas and the loud music from them creates an atmosphere of celebration.

The Arraial d'Ajuda Eco Park is one of the star attractions of Praia Mucugê. It is a large water park, probably the largest in the country, which offers unlimited fun for the entire family. Enjoy thrilling moments as you negotiate its twisting water slides and canals or have fun in the wave pool. During summer, live concerts are held here by famous bands in the country.

2: Visit Other Popular Beaches

Four of the nearby beaches, Pitinga, Parracho, Aracaipe and Apaga-Fogo provide the ideal conditions for relaxation.

Pitinga is one of the most frequented beaches in the region. Unlike Mucugê, the waves are strong in Pitinga. The reefs form a lovely landscape as the water level goes down during low tide. There are plenty of cozy inns and bars.

Parracho is another popular beach with tourists and is also an excellent place for swimming or water sports. Restaurants and inns at the beach serve delicious seafood.

Apaga-Fogo beach is located on the banks of the Buranhem River. This is one of the best places for windsurfing, kayaking and snorkeling.

3: Take A Walk To Praia de Taípe

Eco Park
If you enjoy long walks, you can walk to Taipe beach. It takes about two hours to get there by foot, but the scenery on the way and the beauty of the beach make it worth the effort. On the way, there are groups of tents selling refreshments.

Taipe is surrounded by colorful cliffs, 45 meters high in some places and topped with tropical vegetation. The landscape is unique and the waters are crystal clear. It is also ideal for those who prefer a less crowded atmosphere. One of the star attractions here is the Blue Lagoon.

The lagoon offers calm waters and is believed to contain substances that are good for the skin. A relaxing bath in the waters will calm both body and mind. For those looking for a bit of excitement, it may be possible to get a ride on an ultralight aircraft. This will give you the opportunity to see the cliffs from close range.

4: Visit The Church Of Nossa Senhora D'Ajuda

The church was built towards the end of the 16th century and is the main historic attraction in the village. It is located opposite a square at the end of Broduei Street. You will find many colorful houses, shops and bakeries here.

5: Shopping At The Rua do Mucugê

Apart from fine restaurants and bars, you will find nice handicraft shops on Mucage Street. Most of the items are made from materials like coconut shells, clay, stone, straw, seashells, ceramic and silver. If you are looking for souvenirs or gifts, these shops are the best places to look for them. You have a choice of traditional clothing, decorative items and handmade jewelery.

6: Visit the Coral Vivo Mucugê

Arraial d'Ajuda Church
This is a science museum which shows its visitors the rich biodiversity of the region. Exhibits include five famous species of corals found in Bahia. The brain coral is one of them.

7: Enjoy The Nightlife In Arraial

The streets of Arraial get transformed at night with decorated bars and restaurants. Many of them offer live music. During summer, famous Brazilian bands give live performances, which further enhance the celebratory atmosphere. The activity is concentrated in streets, Broduei, Mucage and Beco das Cores. Have a great time eating, drinking and dancing till the early hours, if you wish.

Arraial d'Ajuda is the perfect place for an unforgettable holiday. It is something that you will not want to miss if you come to Bahia. Arraial has something for everyone, whatever be their preferences. The village offers some fantastic houses and holiday homes. Renting one will be a good idea if you are staying for long durations.View real estate for sale in Arraial d'Ajuda
